Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has united civic activists and strengthened civil society networks across the Nordics, driving collective action to support Ukrainian resilience and regional democratic security. Since 2022, this mobilisation has been strongly reflected in Denmark, where civil society has actively contributed to defending human lives and freedom in response to Russia’s unjust aggression. Today, these organisations are at the forefront of shaping public discourse, advocating for democratic responses, delivering humanitarian assistance, and contributing first-hand Ukrainian experience to international discussions.

This growing role has enabled more coordinated responses to wartime challenges, brought together at the Nordic Ukraine Advocacy Summit — the region’s platform for cooperation and long-term strategic planning.

The Nordic Ukraine Advocacy Summit 2026 in Copenhagen will be the fourth annual regional meeting, following Stockholm, Helsinki, and Oslo, reflecting growing interest and participation. It brings these efforts together with Nordic partners to advance more coordinated action and shared strategies, convening Danish and Nordic civil society organisations alongside decision-makers, experts, and civic actors.

The 2026 summit theme, “A durable peace through democratic resilience: The Nordic–Ukraine partnership at scale,” focuses on translating civic momentum into durable, synchronised action aligned with Ukraine’s national priorities and Nordic democratic values. The summit will also bring together Nordic and Baltic civil society organisations, policymakers, and experts to advance practical, democratic approaches to strengthening the Nordic–Ukraine cooperation axis.

May 10, Sunday, day 1 of Summit : Collaboration and exchange
The first day will bring together representatives from civil society organisations from Nordics, Baltics, and Ukraine to connect, share experiences, exchange knowledge, and develop practical ideas for joint cooperation.

May 11, Monday, day 2 of Summit: Coordination and strategic dialogue
The second day takes place at the Folketinget as a high-level forum focused on coordination and long-term impact. Discussions will address democratic resilience, pathways to a just peace, and cooperation between civil society and policymakers.
